Dr. Whitlow graduated from LaGrange Academy in 1984, after attending LA since first grade. He holds a B.S. from Auburn University, and a Doctorate in Optometry from University of Alabama-Birmingham School of Optometry. He is in private practice in LaGrange, with his wife, Dr. Donna Whitlow. Dr. John Whitlow is a past president of the Georgia Optometric Association, and continues to serve as Legislative Chairman of the GOA. Nationally, he has been selected to the American Optometric Association’s State Government Relations Committee. Numerous awards have been presented to him, including the Bernard Kahn Legislative Award, GOA Optometrist of the Year, and a State of Georgia citation from Governor Sonny Perdue. He has had the opportunity to testify before the Small Business Committee in Washington, D.C., as well as other Committee hearings at the Georgia Capitol.
Dr. Whitlow attends First Baptist Church on the Square where he is a deacon and serves as a sound board technician. He enjoys work on the family farm in his moments of “spare” time. His children, Jennifer (’15) and John H. (’18), have attended LaGrange Academy since kindergarten.
