Mock Trial

On October 15th, 2008, two area defense lawyers, Wes Leonard and Cliff Rhodes, spoke to the tenth grade English class.  Currently, our tenth graders are working on compiling a case for a mock trial of “Oedipus Rex.”  Students will conduct a trial next week complete with a prosecution and defense team, witnesses, a jury, a judge, and Oedipus himself.  Today, Mr. Leonard and Mr. Rhodes taught the students about the progression of a criminal trial and proceeded to work with both the defense and prosecution to help them solidify their cases.  We are so appreciative that these two gentlemen took time out of their busy schedules to teach our students these much-needed trial techniques!  We will post the outcome of the mock trial on the website homepage soon! Finance Presentation

On October 6, Headmaster Matt Walsh presented an “insider’s view” of the  LaGrange Academy budget.  Mr. Walsh explained how the budget is constructed, outlined our expenses and sources of revenue, and used data and comparisons to demonstrate the strength of our program and the significant value of a LaGrange Academy education. The middle school academic bowl team went to Chamblee, Georgia this Saturday to compete in a GATA Brain Brawl tournament.  The format was different than we were used to, and the competition was tough, but the team made a good showing.  Read the rest of the story here.

Volleyball News:

The Junior Varsity Girls’ Volleyball team is off to a great season thus far! The JV team is undefeated, and only halfway through their season, they boast a record of 9-0! Team  Captains, Haley Hodnett and Taylor Smith have done an amazing job boosting the team’s morale and keeping them fired up. Returning players Rachel Ware, Angela Aleman, Lacey Worthy, and Minzi Jung have really stepped up their game and are producing some great stats, while newcomers, Kayla Fannin, Nelson Reames, Jada McCann, Danielle McCants, and Vickie Zuo have been true assets in helping lead this team to victory. Next time you get a chance you should come out to cheer these Lady Warriors on to a perfect record this season!
