What is the Annual Fund?

 

The Annual Fund is the LaGrange Academy fundraising effort that occurs every school year. As an independent school, we do not receive local, state, or federal tax support.

 

Why is it important?

 

Many people do not realize that tuition covers only 89% of the Academy operating budget.  The Annual Fund, along with the Auction and other fundraising efforts, are critical in bridging the gap between tuition and the actual cost of offering a LaGrange Academy education. Since tuition does not cover all of our budgeted expenses, we ask our entire Academy family, businesses, corporations, and friends to contribute and help keep tuition more affordable for all. Many Foundations, to which we apply frequently, base their decisions to award grants and funding based on Annual Fund participation rates.

 

 Where does the money go?

 

The money raised each year helps balance the current operating budget for the Academy, so your gift affects every aspect of our school and touches every student.

 

What are the goals this year?

 

We have both a Participation Goal and a Budgeted Gross Dollar Amount Goal this year.

Both the faculty and Board of Trustees have historically achieved 100% participation. Our goal for this year is 100% parent participation. The Budgeted Dollar Goal for this year is $50,000.

 

Why don’t you just raise tuition to cover actual cost?

 

The answer is that very few independent schools charge the full amount of money it costs to educate each student. If we did, many more families would find it increasingly difficult to afford the Academy.

How much should we give?

 

We ask that each family participate in Annual Fund and give according to their ability and means. Gifts vary each year from $1 to $5,000 and more. Please remember that substantial gifts from some families can allow them to close the gap between tuition and the actual cost of an LA education for themselves as well as for another family with fewer discretionary resources. Families whose child receives financial aid are asked to contribute a small gift to help us achieve our 100% participation goal.

 

How can I join the effort?

 

It’s effortless to give to the Annual Fund. The gift period extends through June 30. You can pledge now and give anytime through June 30. Your gift can be made all at once, or monthly, or any other way you would like.

What are the Levels of Giving?

Founder: $5,000 or over

Sustainer: $2,500-$4,999

Gold: $1,000-$2,499

Warrior: $250-$999

Friend: $1-$249
