Academic Bowl team members from LaGrange Academy competed in the PAGE  (Professional Association of Georgia Educators) Academic Bowl for Middle Grades Regional Competition held at Shorter University on January 7, 2012. The PAGE Academic Bowl for Middle Grades is sponsored by the more than 82,000 members of PAGE and the PAGE Foundation.

LaGrange Academy, as one of two regional team winners that emerged from this competition, has been invited to join 20 other teams in the Semi-finals Competition set for January 21, 2012. The four teams that emerge victorious that day will compete for the State Championship on February 11, 2012, at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville.

Team members included eighth graders Marshall Todd and Christian Zubernis, seventh graders Gavin Battle, Raina Modi, and Macy Willis, and sixth graders Anna Countess, Elaina Horlander, Fikayo Oshinowo, and Joseph Ragland.  Other team members (who did not attend this competition) are eighth grader Jade Thornton and seventh grader Leah Major.

The PAGE Academic Bowl for Middle Grades features teams of middle school students fielding questions on subjects ranging from Georgia history to mathematics, science, literature and the performing arts. The questions are developed using the Georgia Performance Standards. Cheered on by coaches, parents and fellow students, team members answer toss-up and bonus questions to score points.

Statewide, more than 2,000 students compete at the local, regional and state levels of the PAGE Academic Bowl for Middle Grades. The PAGE Foundation also sponsors other academic programs including PAGE STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) and the PAGE Georgia Academic Decathlon (GAD). Through its sponsorship of Future Educators Association of Georgia (FEA Georgia), Student Professional Association of Georgia Educators (SPAGE) and PAGE Foundation Scholarships, the PAGE Foundation works to recruit capable people to the teaching profession and provide career-long professional learning opportunities for educators.

PAGE, the parent organization of the Foundation, is a statewide professional association of more than 82,000 teachers, administrators and support personnel members.
