John Seay Newman was born on August 26, 1984, in LaGrange, Georgia, to Frank Seay Newman and Mary Seay Skandalakis. He grew up alongside his younger siblings, Jud and Frances, in a close-knit family that shaped his strong values of loyalty, leadership, and compassion.
A Leader from the Start
John attended LaGrange Academy from 4th to 8th grade and returned for his junior and senior years, graduating in 2003. He was a natural leader, excelling both academically and athletically. His time at LaGrange Academy was defined by his integrity, work ethic, and ability to inspire those around him.
Service to His Country
After high school, John attended Georgia Southern University and Gainesville State before choosing to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather and cousins by enlisting in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. In the Marines, he embodied the values of honor, courage, and commitment, leading with both strength and empathy. His dedication to his fellow Marines was a testament to his character.
Academic and Professional Excellence
John continued his education at LaGrange College, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in International Finance and Market Research. His sharp analytical mind and leadership skills carried into his professional life, where he worked at Home Depot and Walmart. He was deeply committed to supporting his employees, leading by example, and fostering a positive work environment.
